Abysmal Specter est un expert ès châteaux : avec Curta'n Wall, il en détaille les fondations (... pour mieux les pulvériser) et avec Old Nick, il explore les cryptes et les objets magiques qui s'y trouvent. Les vampires ne sont pas que ces cadavres livides avides de sang sous toutes ses formes. Bon, c'est vrai, ils sont *surtout* ça. Mais pas que : ils peuvent avoir une personnalité complexe. Si vous êtes rebutés à l'idée de lire Twilight ou Petit Vampire pour en savoir plus, écouter Bloody Horror de Bloody Keep sera une bonne alternative. Si le raw black metal est toujours aussi fun, le vampire est désormais victime de son sort, obligé de vivre reclus — même la production est plus ténébreuse !

Comme tant d'autres artistes regroupés au sein du label Grime Stone Records, Mossen invite dans son premier album éponyme à faire une ballade en forêt mais certainement pas dans un esprit de frivolité comique ou de romantisme pastoral. Le raw black metal lugubre de Mossen est très bruitiste et fait l'effet d'une chute dans un buis de ronces. Abysmal Specter, qui assure le chant, ne joue plus le rôle de bouffon comme on a pu souvent l'entendre mais de fantômes errant dans les bois. Un bon début !

Whilst there are plenty of folk horror-invoking UGBM acts with an appropriately cavernous and anachronistic sound, Revenant Marquis just does it so well! I especially love the mournfully threatening vibe of "Yellow Teeth".
